Are you ready to visit one of the most iconic shorelines in New York State? Look no further than Lake George in upstate
New York! Let me help you plan your family friendly vacation that you can take the kids to by car in New York!
Whether you are a nature enthusiast, water lover, history buff or you are just looking for some family-friendly
fun…Lake George is going to be the ultimate destination for you!
Where to Stay?
Nestled in the Northern most part of Lake George in the small town of Bolton Landing hosts one of the most iconic hotels in all of New York called The Sagamore Resort.
This luxury resort brings history, charm and five-star accommodations together to create my favorite New York State family friendly vacation!
Why I Love The Sagamore Resort
The Sagamore Resort is a place where I can honestly say you can go back every summer and you will never get sick of visiting!
When I plan a vacation for my family I typically try and look for elegant & family-friendly accommodations.
The Sagamore is not only elegant and family-friendly but has numerous mouthwatering dining options but has an award-winning Spa, an 18-hole golf course with breathtaking views of Lake George and a staff that has been trained to provide an unforgettable guest experience.
The Sagamore on Lake George is your family vacation splurge worthy spot for summer 2024 and all future summers to come!
A Little Bit About The Sagamore Resort
The entire 70-acre property is overflowing with family-friendly activities for you and your kids. The property boasts
mountain views that will make you feel like you are in Lake Tahoe (just with a bit smaller of peaks!) but really…you
don’t feel like your even in New York! I know 70 acres can sound overwhelming and I’ve been to properties where I can
never fully remember which way to go & how early to leave to get somewhere on time! It’s the worst! The Sagamore is
not like that at all…it is SO intimate! Getting from place to place is mindless & easy!
Your Family-Friendly Days at The Sagamore Resort
After you’ve checked and gotten a bit settled, you’ll want to head straight outside to one of the resorts pools.
The property has 3 pools: two outdoor pools & one indoor pool (all 3 pools are heated to the perfect temperature too!). The smaller of the two outdoor pools is what I’d consider more of a “kiddie” pool which will probably be a favorite spot foryour little ones. The main pool overlooks the lake & mountains (be sure to bring your pool floats & water toys because
the resort allows it!).
Easily have a daily lunch from their full-service poolside menu and some signature cocktails for Mom & Dad. You can
always opt to sit down by the lake in an area with sand & lounge chairs when the kids want to build a sandcastle, jump
in the lake or go fishing off the dock. My kids LOVE fishing off the dock at The Sagamore. There are tons of fish so
everyone leaves happy!
Worried about lake water? Being that I’m from Long Island – I am used to the ocean and I have to admit the thought of
going on vacation to a lake just did not interest me. If you’re like me and think of just beach vacations let me try and
change your mind with The Sagamore on Lake George! The water in Lake George is so clear & clean! The Sagamore
has a roped off area for swimming with a lifeguard on duty so you and your kids can jump off the dock right into the
water and not have to worry about anything icky touching you! Additionally, you’ll be able to relax with their
complimentary tubes when you’re looking to just float around with your kids.
After you’re waterlogged from an incredible day of swimming, complimentary ice cream, floating around in tubes &
fishing you can look forward to The Sagamore’s on site family friendly restaurants. Dinner reservations at the property
restaurants book up pretty quickly so I suggest making your reservations in advance especially if you’re traveling with
kids! I recommend eating at La Bella Vita in the main hotel where you and your family will have tons of mouthwatering
Italian inspired dishes to choose from. I also recommend eating dinner (or lunch) at The Pavilion for lakeside dining if
you’re in the mood for fresh seafood, epic salads or just a simple (and enormous) hamburger.
My Two Sagamore Resort “Must-Do’s” For Families
Ya know that dreaded feeling of when you’ve planned an epic trip and then a rainstorm tears your plans for the day
apart – Now what? You have kids and don’t know what to do to keep them entertained – At this resort you’ll still be
able to enjoy their indoor pool & jacuzzi along with their Rec Center. Their recreation center is truly amazing and one of
a kind! It’s10,000 square feet of ultimate family fun! Some of my favorite highlights of the recreation center are rock
climbing (available at certain times of the day), miniature golf, basketball courts, baseball field & ping-pong tables!
My second “must-do” at The Sagamore is taking a ride on The Morgan. This unforgettable experience will have you
and your kids super excited upon boarding the touring vessel that takes guests of the resort on a 1.5-hour tour of Lake
George. This is a complimentary excursion for all resort guests and is not to be missed!
Think you might want to leave the resort during you’re stay?
The town of Bolton Landing is walkable from The Sagamore (but bring a stroller for young kids just in case!) If you’re
looking to get a quick bite one morning, then definitely stop at the local eatery called “Bears Cup”. If you’re looking for
an absolutely delicious sit down meal I suggest making a reservation at Chateau on the Lake. This quaint lakefront
restaurant offers seafood towers, New Zealand lamb lollipops, chillean sea bass and venison (just to name a few of my
favorites!). Your kids will be able to run around on the oversized grassy area on the lake where there are adirondack
chairs set up. After you’ve finished dinner, be sure to walk over to Ben & Jerry’s for ice cream which will be sure to
make everyone happy.
Your family vacation this summer at The Sagamore will leave you and your children with memories that will last you a
lifetime. I can promise you’ll be wanting to come back summer after summer! Whether you’re staying for 3 nights of an
entire week – you will always leave your vacation at The Sagamore on Lake George wishing you had more time to stay!
